Canterbury Christ Church University is honoured to host the 27th Society for Animation Studies annual conference in July 2015. *Please note that registration is now open >. Animation has long been a feature of our undergraduate programme in the School of Media, Art and Design, and our graduates produce work in numerous forms of animation. We are also proud sponsors of Canterbury Anifest, an event that gives festivalgoers the chance to meet international industry speakers and attend workshops on topics such as drawing, model making, and storyboarding. Animation also played a central role in the University’s recent 50th Anniversary celebrations, with projection mapping used to bring the campus to life.
With such a diverse range of animation activity associated with Canterbury, it seems only fitting to give the 2015 conference a theme that seeks to embrace the myriad forms that animation can take – we therefore invite you to think: ‘Beyond The Frame’.
As has been the case in previous years, our hope is that ‘Beyond The Frame’ 2015 will continue the tradition of collaboration between scholars and practitioners, and hopefully establish a space in which we might seek to reframe the binary that too often divides practice and scholarship.
